Book Review

Felt Style by Chrissie Day
Best Felting How-To Book!,
By
Kathleen Gumbleton (Pasadena, California) –

If you are new to felting and are a little fearful of the results and want to really become knowledgable beyond the usual, just toss in the wash and come what may, you will really appreciate this book. I tried reading everything I could find on the topic and so little helpful guidance was to be found in all the felting books I came across UNTIL I read this one! The projects in the book are very elegant, sophisticated and classy but not difficult to achieve. The author explores various yarns rather than the usual suspects and has come up with some really marvelous ‘finishing techniques’ for handbags that I thought were a fantastic improvement on most construction techniques I’ve tried from other patterns or read about elsewhere. In other words, this is about as fail proof as one can get. This book really raises the bar and sets a new standard for excellence and I hope to see more like it in the future from this author/publisher.
