Sewing silks is hard after felt and knitting etc but oh so much pleasure.
Took myself off for a refresher with Alison Smith at her school of sewing in Ashby de la Zouch wonderful day and certainly worth every penny.Met 5 other ladies who spend their time making these wonderful bridal outfits, mine is a once in a lifetime occurence but I am enjoying myself .
As a teenager in the 60’s we had to make our own fashion–we would watch Top of the Pops on a Thursday night go to the fabric shop Saturday morning and be wearing the new creations that evening .Duttons for Buttons could help you embellish anything still can, a fabulous store worth a visit if you are in Harrogate followed by a trip to Bettys.Bought some great fabric from Alison her shop is amazing so many fab fabrics and good bargains as well.Decided to make the top in a nice patterned cotton just to check on all measurements before cutting into silks .Tried very hard and by recutting a skirt pattern managed to get the skirt from the same small piece so should be just the ticket for one more dress for her honeymoon .This has all the corsetry inside and a laced part very cleverly hidden behind the zip which itself is concealed
