We rave about the woodlands at this time of year and the colours dancing into our vision teasing us with a bright display

My life long love affair is well known and documented but have you ever studied your borders, your shrubs and  the leaves on your climbing roses?

Each competes with its neighbour the lime against the  burgundy of the cotinus the pale ice green of the eucalyptus and the white climbing roses.

The summer pink rose pushes forward her cluster of buds desperate to join the Party of Colour.

Palest pink and leaves turning russet on the low growing geraniums the upward thrust of lavender against the pale gravel they grow in

Then i turn and see the Peaony leaves each one a differing shade trying to outshine the leaf next to it like sisters outshining each other in their finery.

The seed heads nod as if to say Yes but look closely to us our palest silkiest beige shell holding the seeds of the future.

The brightest green of the crocosisima with its dancing arched plumes full of buds of seeds across the darkening sky. Another sight catches my eye the wind blowing the white daisy heads from left to right as she anxiously spreads her seed to beat her neighbour the Phlomis with her bright yellow candelabra flowers who command respect as they flower high above the tiny rock garden flowers.

Autumn Colour

Its a delight a cacophony of colour and even as i move around the nodding heads of my Cosmos say ‘ Look at us’ dancing in front of the beautiful tender green of the Larch Tree.

I do notice each one of you my creation only in putting you all together the symphony you created yourselves which reaches me deep and my heart says Thankyou its been wonderful now rest.

While Winter winds and storms and snow and frost create the magical peaceful white world of Winter as she chases Autumn away.

Tools all cleaned, gleaming now to be oiled and packed in brown paper until Spring.

The hills turn from green to purple to grey to dark green they too compete to get my eye.

I see you I see you all.
